A large student place in an historic building, although somewhat gutted so you wouldn't know it. There is a big benched drinking hall downstairs with a roof terrace (and apparently a snug bar) upstairs. There are pizza and burger serveries either side of the main bar counter, which boasts 20 or so keg taps with a reasonable craft selection (Northern Monk, Kirkstall etc.) plus a few handpumps offering Brass Castle Peachy Blonde and Nightjar Unauthorised Dragon Racing, which was surprisingly nice. They do seem to go for the novelty end of the beer spectrum, which presumably appeals to the clientele. Pretty well what you would expect from a student place but nice enough, especially at quiet times

Covid Special
Directed to the roof terrace with my wrist band, by a fiercely efficient anti Covid entrance system, beer purchased at the bar then away with my hard plastic glass to my seat. Up in the clouds, mostly of vaping steam, at least it’s got reasonable cover from the rain unless it comes in sideways. My first time up here and sadly the views are nothing special. Only one cask on in these troubled times, Saltaire South Island, which I swerved in preference for an IPA from Five Points on keg.

A large space with the appearance of a former industrial workshop. The bar is on the right towards the rear, with a further counter for ordering burgers. There are six handpumps and numerous keg fonts. My initial choice of Hawkshead Red was quite clearly off - it was so murky it shouldn't even have been sold to me - but was quickly replaced by Arbor Shangri-La, which while not to my taste was at least in decent nick. There was a good atmosphere, with family groups including children and an eclectic music selection, which was initially overloud but was soon either reduced in volume or maybe it was just quieter tracks being played.
