The Crooked Billet is tucked well away from the main road in Ryehill, along a side road. It seemed unusual to see a pub sign on the main road, around half a mile away from the pub itself.
On arrival, there were more kids around than adults. I suspect there had been a children's birthday party held in the pub earlier in the afternoon. Inside, there were a few adult drinkers with a couple of dogs. Our son was happy to be given what appeared to be a party bag with sweets and a small game.
Doom Bar & Wainwright were the 2 real ales. The main bar area is fairly cosy and traditional, with plenty of dark wood.
Certainly a nice village local, that could be improved with a better ale selection.

A small single bar pub in the hamlet of Ryehill, with stone floors, upholstered bench seats and a small dining area. The pub has a cosy feel about it especially when they light the log fires in the winter months. Monday is men's darts night and Tuesday is the womens and Wednesday is quiz night. For 'Real Ale' lovers it has a selection of five 'Real Ales', Banks Bitter, Jennings Cumberland Ale plus three Guest Ales.
