Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Alma
Tidily refurbished sports bar, with a L-shaped bar, a slightly raised lounge ('The War Office', with some military pictures on the walls) opposite the far end of the counter and the pool / darts area at the back (with a skittle alley beyond). A pair of Wye Valley cask ales - HPA (£4.50) and Butty Bach - available on handpump, with the keg taps offering Super Bock among other, more usual, beers.

Very busy when I called in with most watching The Army v The Navy rugby match. A boisterous and friendly atmosphere. 2 beers on including a decent Hop Shed Pale. Glad to have called in.

A terraced pub with a rear patio. The pub looks Victorian, with the upper stories in undressed brick, with a couple of plain and rounded sash windows and a lower storey in cream render with black paintwork. Flanked by two windows, there is a central entrance with ornamental pediment.
The interior has an L-shaped room with the serving bar to the left on entry. It is in purple and wood panel, with a white ceiling and a wood floor. At the far end there is a dart board and a pool table - the roll on which the Swiss would have been proud of - it is like watching drunks playing. There is nothing really in the way of pictures on the walls, so it looks a little bare. There is a TV, but this wasn't on and the background music was general and at a decent level. The service was fine and there were a couple of locals in, obviously not playing pool.
Beer; usual tap stuff with Wells Bombardier and an average Sharpe's Doombar on handpull.
A run-of-the-mill place really, only worth seeking out for a comedy pool game.
