Marston’s pub serving 2 real ales. Main bar area at the front with more space to the rear.

1700s pub that has had a recent(ish) makeover and is immaculate painted/decorated throughout. Low ceiling with open plan rooms running off a central bar. The real ale selection was uninspired and I am glad that the previous review has confirmed my suspicions that this is a Marstons house (nothing externally to tell). I think they had wainwright and brakspear on.
As the only punter, I thought it wiser to stick on keg. Brooklyn Pilsner served in the right glass.

A rather strange one this. The frontage of this Banks's pub is all over the place. It looks like two buildings have been merged into one, with its offset entrance and a few of the windows that are now either blind, or covered over with the pub name. It is in cream painted brick, with a brick and red lower - there are some nice ppilaster features and a broken pediment over the door.
The interior has a couple of rooms. The room at the front is the width of the pub and in red with wood floor (i only passed through). There was a fireplace feature and bistro art on the walls, with soft music in the background. It was somewhat busy so we haeded through an arch into a passageway, where a second area opened out. This was in chocalate and a greeny colour, with red tile floor and white ceiling. There are sofas and tables, with mirrors and flora and forna pictures on the walls. Can't say about the service as my mate got the beers as i went to the loo, but the place was packed with a mixed crowd, a number of which seemed 'interesting'.
Beer; usual tap stuff with Oxford Gold and a decent Ringwood 49er on handpull.
I think it is a place for its own clientele. I felt somewhat uncomfortable here, but that may be because it was so busy i ended up in the passageway where a strange guy made cuckoo noises.
