Town centre locals pub with friendly service. No ales on so a quick Guinness while I waited for my bus!

Badged as a Marstons pub it’s a good looking pub on the High St, two bar but the lounge was firmly closed inside and out. Entering the public via the side door I was assailed by Irish music soon to be replaced by some sort of disco music. It’s a basic L shaped room part grey, part white, banquette seating at round wooden tables. The counter is to the centre right and home to a lovely selection of Carlsberg Marstons Brewing’s best products, it may have sold cask at one time as there are some old pump clips attached to one of the fake beams in the ceiling. There’s a screen and machine but you probably expected that. A few nice old photos to look at.

A good friendly locals pub serving homecooked lunches on our visit. The interior was modern in decor, with dark greys and blues, and had two small adjacent rooms. You enter the pub from a courtyard area on the left. The front room housed a small bar with three shiny chrome pumps, but unfortunately no cask ale to be had.
