Opened-out comer pub in the backstreets, horseshoe shaped. Looks like a comprehensive refit 15 years ago; light wood, off white walls and Habitat style furniture; very of its time and a bit stark but well-maintained. Classic urban local stylings of pool, darts and two TVs, one of which was tuned to Now 80s and the Ashes on the other. Outgoing landlady who was good for a chat and lifted the atmosphere a bit on what was otherwise a quiet, grey and rainy day. One undressed handpump, so a Guinness had to do. A friendly welcome can help wonders.
