Tidy multi-roomer. Right side is the main bar with a good display of wood – evident in the panelling, flooring and a very attractive carved bar and it feels like a chunk of the features are aged, like the huge hearth fireplace. Off left is a much larger modern area - quite cosily done - for the middle class diners. Four Waddies cask, my 6X was decent and would have been A1 with more throughout (NBSS 3.5). I quite liked it here though a lack of custom indicates that the locals are less keen.

A large Georgian hotel on the high street. There are several bar areas and two restaurants, plus a couple of function rooms including a ball room. What it lacks is outside areas. The public rooms are on the ground floor and basement, and there are 25 bedrooms above. The front bar is traditional, a horseshoe shaped bar counter in a bright, airy room, while to the rear of that is a more comfortable lounge bar; both are served from the central servery. The staff were professional and friendly, but we were the only customers. Ales on were all from Wadworth – 6X, Henry’s and Old Timer. I went for the latter which was in good condition. I’d be very happy to eat here, it’s a decent place to stay and would be a good inclusion in a crawl.

The Bear is a largish smart Wadworths tied house on the market place and it is also has a three star rating as an hotel.
This pub is quite smart inside and has three pumps on the bar i tried Henrys IPA and it was on form there was also 6X and a seasonal beer on,i thought this was the best of the Wadworths pubs on the market place.
