The unusually named Dumb Post Inn enjoys a commanding position at the top of a hill overlooking a valley and Bowood House & Gardens. On a lovely summer's Sunday, the majority of people were sat in the garden and other outdoor areas. Waitresses were delivering drinks to tables. Whether that was just to people dining or to drinkers too, I'm not sure. But the two bar staff seemed overworked, with a constant stream of customers appearing at the bar and waitresses appearing with orders. As such, it took a while to be served.

3 real ales were on - Doom Bar, 6X & Adam Henson's Rare Breed. I'd never actually tried the latter before and a swift half went down quite nicely after the lengthy wait. On leaving I said goodbye to the barmaid who served me, whilst returning my glass to the bar. Her rather sullen stare said it all.

A country pub in a lovely location, but don't the staff just know it!
