A solid village inn cum eatery, with only half of the outside door open so not clear if it was open or not. Managing to squeeze my gut through the gap I ascertained it was, but only inhabited by the landlord and a bored young barman. There is a room either side of a central island bar with a mixture of real and fake beams and mostly traditional furniture. On this side there was various grey paintwork and a bit of plastic greenery, while the other side had some brighter colours and a TV. To the rear there is a large restaurant area in a side extension. 3 handpumps had TT Landlord, Theakstons Best and Theakstons Quencher (off). Adequate.

A nice stone built pub in a pretty village setting, two rooms at the front either side of a central servery behind the dual entrance doors. To the right is a proper public bar with newish stone floors, plain walls with just a round map of the area, a fire place with wood burner and decorated with a couple of old photos , there's also a big screen which was on the cricket this being Yorkshire, and a dart board lurked in the corner. The other room is more of a dining/lounge type room and I believe there's a dining room at the back but I didn't explore that far. In addition to meals on site it offers a Fish & Chip takeaway. Two pulls grace each side of the servery with Black Sheep both sides, York Terrier in the lounge and a Roosters in the public, not a 4.3% pale this time but a more juvenile 3 percenter. No sign of the in-house brewery promised on WhatPub but the keg choice was rather more interesting than most places with Meantime and Freedom among the fonts. A nice well run village local.
