Owned and run by nearby Nailmaker Brewery of Darton, this old pub has been eviscerated and modernised, with grey paint daubed remorselessly on the external walls. The ceilings are held up by the entire yearly output of the British steel industry. The bar counter in one corner has four hand pumps with three of their own beers and one from Acorn. My half of Nailmaker Cardinal Sin was a bit cold but worth a punt (NBSS 3 to 3.5). The welcome was friendly and the service spot on.
