Not a lot of change over the years for this large stone built pub, just the one L shaped room with sort of a U shaped counter. To the right is a pool table, screen and machine. On the left the servery with a couple of T-Bars and two pulls with a fairly ordinary White Rat at a daft £5 a pint, and a Taylors Knowl Spring that I didn’t try. Chunky tables in the middle, banquettes to the sides. There’s the inevitable piped music and a few screens. Friendly North American landlord who took over in December 2025 with his Yorkshire wife and big soppy dogs.

L-Shaped single room pub with a smallish beer garden round the back. Pool table and dart board at the front end of the 'L'. Two cask, Yorkshire Blonde and 'White Rat' (the latter written in chalk on a blank tap head so wasn't sure what type of beer it was. Plumbed for the White Rat, but it was too Hoppy for my taste, although possibly would be liked by the IPA crowd. Amongst the kegs were Leffe and some IPA. Busy mid-week, but the football was on the telly. They sometime have bands playing on Fridays.

Despite its somewhat rough exterior this is quite a pleasant village pub, albeit with rather loud music - and consequent loud conversation. There was lots of jubilee tat cluttering up the place when I was here, but the lass behind the bar was sympathetic in response to my "is there a party" jibe. There were two hand pumps on the bar, with JW Lees Founders and Ossett Yorkshire Blonde; I went for the latter, but wasn't impressed - possibly it had been sitting in the pipe for too long, though it wasn't off. I guess there were as many people in here as on a normal Saturday, which makes this a fairly popular pub for locals.
