A very nice pub both externally and on the interior. Crammed incongruously into a corner of a quiet shopping street, the pub is evidently bigger than it looks. The front door with its beautiful carved stonework leads into a main bar room, with one or two smaller rooms to the right, and a further bar room glimpsed through the counter. There was plenty of wood panelling and the usual feeling of can't-quite-make-out-if-any-of-this-is-authentic (this is a Sam Smiths pub). No real ale is the only drawback here, so I went for the Dark Mild, a half of which set me back just over 13 shillings and 4 pence, or a groat. The price has been the same for about 600 years, apparently. The manager was friendly but the customers, on my side of the bar at least, were very quiet.

The Windmill Inn is tucked away in a corner in the main shopping area so can be easily missed.
Once inside the pub has three separate room, the main bar room is in the middle and is oblong shaped, the room is carpeted and has comfy bench seating and small stools, there is lots of wood pannelling on the walls, there is a smaller separate room to the right off the corridor which has comfy bench seating and small stools, the bar room is to the right this is served by the same bar has the main room.
The pub is a Samuel Smiths tied house,no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Sam Smiths Old Brewery Bitter which was a decent drink and only 90p for a half.
The pub was busy which is no surprise with those prices.
A decent pub that i quite liked having a drink in.
