The Liquorice Bush is a smart looking pub that is on the market place.
Once inside there are tow comfy areas either side of the entrance which have bench seating and small stools, the bar is to the mid left, the rear area is up a couple of steps and has comfy bench seating, the room is carpeted throughout.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Black Sheep bitter which was not on top form, the other beer was Black Sheep Golden Sheep.
Quiet background music was playing and food was being served.
The pub was very busy on my Wednesday dinner time visit due to it being market day.
This pub seemed a bit more classy than other pubs i visited in Pontefract.

This town centre pub has served real ale for years, and is very popular as a ‘starting out’ pub amongst locals. It can get very busy on Friday and Saturday’s at early evening. The regulars here are Tetley’s Cask and Black Sheep Bitter. John Smith’s Cask has also been noted from time to time. This pub is located very close to the Town Hall on Market Street. On Saturday and Wednesday day-times, it can be quite refreshing to pop in to get away from the busy market stalls. There is a big screen in here too which is used for big sporting occasions.
