The Red Lion is a stone built pub that is situatated on the busy kirkgate.
Once inside there are two areas either side of the entrance,the bar is sited to the rear left,there is a small drinking area opposite the bar,this is where i had a drink,the seating is bench type and normal tables and chairs,there was a real fire on the go which was nice on a cold wet day,two TVs were showing sky football score updates,there is a separate pool room to the rear.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Theakston Best,this was a decent enough drink.
The pub was very busy on my Saturday afternoon visit.
I was quite happy drinking in this proper and popular pub.

An unostentatious pub with many small areas, the bar counter is halfway back to the left with two roomlets to each side at the front and a sitting area opposite the barcounter. Not much to report on the beer front, I had a Golden Pippin which was pretty good but I didn't notice the origin of the other couple of cask beers or the keg range. Décor is fairly minimalist too with plain white walls with old photographs and a big TV in one front room, the carpets are a bit eyecatching though. Probably the kind of place that comes alive in the evenings.
