A three room Sam’s pub in the usual unspoilt fashion, nice nouveau stained glass windows. The front has two rooms, a public and a saloon, with the counter in the saloon. Behind at a lower level is a games room with a pool table. In plain décor with mid-brown wood fittings and furniture. Two handpumps with Old Brewery Bitter on both, I was told it was near the end but I persisted and although less than good it was still drinkable if cloudy and cold. I should have had the Extra Stout instead, which was one of the nine kegs available from the little boxes and a single taller font, Alpine and Taddy Lager were doubled up. The toilets are in a corridor behind the servery.

A Sam Smiths pub with three smallish rooms, presented with the usual attention to detail seen in this brewer's pubs. The front windows with leaded glass were particularly good (see photos). There's one hand pump on the bar, but my half of Old Brewery Bitter was a little below par (NBSS 2.5), though nothing to complain about. There were quite a few locals sitting around the front room, none of them talking to each other, even though phone policy was rigorously enforced. In the back room, around the pool table, there was a somewhat livelier group chatting at the bar. The licensee seemed a cheerful chap, so I don't know why the front room crowd were so quiet - maybe they were still recovering from the night before.

The Horse and Jockey is situated in Ossetts town centre and backs onto the bus station.
Once inside the pub has three separate rooms, the main bar room is oblong shaped with the bar facing, this room is carpeted and has normal tables and chairs, there is a larger square shaped room the the right of the bar room, this room has leather bench seating and small stools and a parquet floor, there is another room down a few steps to the rear left, this room is oblong shaped and has a pool table, there is also serving bar in this room.
The pub is a Samuel Smiths tied house, there was one real ale on the bar,Samuel Smiths Old Brewery Bitter, this was quite a nice drink and very cheap at £1.80 a pint.
The pub was very busy with mainly older drinkers.
This is quite a pleasant pub to have a drink in.
