A Craft Union pub, though not in the usual B&W livery. A large open space around the bar counter is the most memorable feature, with slightly raised areas in the corners. Here and there are some older features, but whether they are original to the pub is not at all clear. There's no real ale, so I had a Staropramen. I noticed a blown up print of a map of the local area, and got chatting to one of the regulars who happened to be sitting nearby. Turned out he had moved a few miles away from Knottingley but returned from time to time. He knew a bit about about some of the features on the map, which was handy.

The Railway is found on the corner of Pontefract Road and the approach road to Knottingley Railway Station. The bar on the rear wall that faces the entrance was populated by a boisterous crowd of local fifty-somethings and their dogs. There was no sign of real ale, but a generic selection of standard keg products was available from the friendly barmaid during my Monday afternoon visit last week. A couple of flat screen televisions were airing muted Sky Sports and some background music was emanating from the jukebox. There are a few seating areas around the pub and around to the left rear of the bar is a pool table, dartboard and projector screen. Out the back are some picnic tables and a large car park.

Lively pub with live music at weekends and a good juke box.
Situated on the station approach car park to rear and a patio area for smoking.
Regret no real ale.
