A former school next to the church, it became a club about 50 years ago and then the present owners bought it about 25 years later. Beers are from local Goose Eye brewery - my half of Spring Wells was very good (NBSS 4 - I'm not sure if £1.45 was a mis-hearing on my part, or a special Tuesday afternoon price, but I know from talking with the people in the Golden Fleece that the beer is cheaper here and in the social club just down the road than they can compete with as they're owned by a pubco). Talking with the manager it's apparent that it gets pretty busy here, so the cask beer doesn't have time to go off.
