I was here in late December 2022, but didn't get around to writing up my notes, so called in today to refresh my memory. As well as the locally ubiquitous Landlord, there was Ossett White Rat plus one from Salopian that was a long way from home. I had a bus to catch so had a swift half of the Rat, which was very good (NBSS 3.5 or 4, £4/pint - no card transactions under £5). It was quite busy, around 6pm on a Tuesday. There's an informal, casual feel to this place which could delight or irritate, depending on disposition or mood. I liked it, and I think I did in December '22 too.

Visited back in Feb, to find four of the six hand pulls in active service, offering TT Landlord, Old Peculiar, Ossett Yorkshire Blonde and Tiny Rebel Yippee Try Yay. I went for a half of the Tiny Rebel at £1.85. Please be aware there is a £5 minimum spend for card payments, but cash is accepted.
There is a real fire, which was going at the time of my visit, making the place feel warm and cosy, despite being a bit light on customers.

Next door to the Commercial but a world away in terms of atmosphere. Pool table to left, exposed brick walls, log fire to right and some stained glass windowage. Porcine ephemera, tick. Four over six sticks, a mixed range including a cider. Plumped for what turned out to be a good half of Titanic PP (NBSS 3.5), served-up by a chatty guv'nor. I’d much rather re-do this one next time than the Taylor’s place over the road. 7.5
