A nicely done-up local, smartly refurbished but keeping its character. The one long room has a dark blue colour scheme with stools along the bar and a seating area behind; sports screen at the end. Various railway prints and signs decorate the walls. Ales on were TT Boltmaker and Ossett Blonde.

Looking very smart - on my enquiry, the young barman was able to describe the gutting of the old interior in great detail. The three hand pumps are at the far end of the counter - the autovacs previously used here either vanished in the refurb or earlier - with Ossett Blonde and Timothy Taylor Landlord both doing whatever it is that cask beers do in the cellar, so Boltmaker was the only beer on. Apparently the cellar was given a makeover too, so this was in decent condition and £4.60/pint.

Got talking to a bloke in Addingham about Ilkley pubs and I mentioned how poor the Midland and the Station were, he said the Station was no longer a Craft Union pub and was much better. I checked this out and yes it has new operators and has had a big tasteful makeover, three pulls with Taylors Landlord and Boltmaker and Ossett Blonde, two horseshoes of the usuals, nicer fixtures and fittings, worth a look. Not sure the punters have improved though.

Well, only one thing has changed in the ten years since I last visited, the Wainwright has been replaced by Taylor’s Knowl Spring, the pump clip being on a hand written paper note on a Landlord clip on a Theakstons best clip. The toilets are down a side alley. Probably more pondlife than before, the fish tank is quite relaxing.
