Peter Forster left this review about Black Swan Inn

A old pub sitting on a crossroads in a small, very picturesque village on the northern extremities of the North York Moors, this is the sort of place we should cherish. You walk straight into the bar. A carpeted, medium sized room loosely divided into a drinking/dining area and a games area. The ceiling is quite low, painted white with boxed beams. Together with a wood/coal stove this gives a cosy feel to the place. A mix of high, low tables and bar stools are present. Flat screen televisions in both bars but mercifully turned off on the occasion of my visit. Piped music but very quiet. The games area had a pool table, dartboard and some Middlesbrough FC tribute pictures. The barmaid was friendly and welcoming. On hand pump were Bradfield’s Farmers Blonde and Timothy Taylor’s Landlord. Currently a familiar pair in these parts. Food is obviously a big part of their trade. This is a great old fashioned village local which would also be a fine place to stop for a meal if passing nearby. Recommended. (GBG 2025/26)
