A large dining pub, very popular Sunday lunchtimes, no doubt with folks from Teesside. Old looking but extended with a restaurant area at one end. Modernised interior with old style furnishings and old photo decor. Four pulls of Cameron’s / Marstons beers and the usual range of UK kegs. I was there on a Sunday lunchtime and it felt a bit ruthlessly efficient and slightly regimented but these places aren’t my cup of tea anyway. It may sound harsh saying that but keeping up that pace and efficiency does need very hard working professional staff, which it has. Beer was ok but not sure it warranted its place in the GBG 2019.

the bay horse is in a lovely setting, HOWEVER this is about the only positive point i have to say about this establishment. Shame about the food, service and staff who are quite frankly up their own backsides. bloody well charming eh? this is one place i will certainly not be returning to! ..

Lovely location, nice food; disgustingly bad attitude from snotty staff/owner whom are painfully miserable and behave as though they don't actually need your custom at all....charming indeed!!
I suggest you pop over the road to the Jet miners where it is less expensive and you are greeted with a warm welcome and a smile......priceless.
