The enthusiastic recommendation of Camra's WhatPub website did not prepare me for the disappointment here. There are two hand pumps, and maybe there are two beers on for the weekend, but my midweek visit found only Dunscar Sessh! (sic), a session ale. Unfortunately it was past its best, with a slightly sour tang that left me in dire need of a palate cleanser before my train journey home. This was the quietest of the four pubs I visited on my brief tour of outer Huddersfield, which may be partly down to location but the lack of enthusiasm and knowledge evidenced by this poor excuse for a beer may have had something to do with it. (I didn't ask for it to be changed because there was no other real ale on and didn't have time to wait for it to be replaced by a new barrel.)
