Cosy community pub with a quaint rustic interior and outdoor terrace. I sat in the bar watching the constant stream of visitors coming and going. Sitting in here for 10 minutes was enough to know this is a top, top real ale pub. Superb selection of beer and chatty, welcoming staff. The icing on the cake was the friendly barmaid putting a group of sweary pub crawling teenage lads in their place. She dealt with it superbly whilst keeping them onside and they soon settled down. Yes, the place is very Hebden Bridge, but i loved it.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Fox & Goose
Very traditional pub at the western edge of the town; just far enough away from the busy tourist zone, and now community run. Comprises three rooms (none large): the central bar, a comfortable lounge to the left and another (plainer) seating area up three steps to the right. Looks like there is an elevated beer garden on the slopes behind, but not sure how you reach that? In addition to the regular Pictish Brewers Gold, the rotating guest beers came from Sunbeam, Mobberley, Salamander, Harrogate and Bowland, and I was recommended the latter's Hen Harrier (£3.80) which proved to be a fine choice. Overall, with a friendly welcome, well worth seeking out.

On a junction and doesn't immediately look old but there's certainly an aged rustic feel within. Enter to the main bar with a bit of seating, a small shabby room off right containing a dart board and a much more pleasant room off left with padded pew perimeter seating and an arch ceiling. Daub plaster walls, flagstone floor and dark wood trim is the general décor get-up. Go up some narrow rickety stairs to find a lovely walled beer garden with elevated views (sadly obscured by a banner pinned to the railings). Six cask on the go, Mill Valley XTRA Fudge was excellent (NBSS 4) as was the Sunbeam Rain (4) plus, IIRC, a couple of ciders. No surprise to see that it won the local CAMRA Pub of the Year. Easily the best ‘proper’ pub in Hebden – the fact it’s a few extra minutes’ walk from the main bit of town probably helps as it keeps the tourists and numpties away. It does have a splash of Guradianista Hebden though, I spotted candles made of soy (??) on sale for a fiver. A fool and their money…
