Definitely one of a kind, this pub has returned to its heavy metal and Gothic style, indicated by the noise from the hifi and the (mostly plastic) décor. The young barman was chain-vaping while serving and when just roosting, most of the other customers were young fans of whatever heavy metal has become nowadays, plus a few naive students and a couple of drinkers. The beer was undeniably good – Stardust 10 and Midi, Birmingham Beer Company’s Mild Brummie and Cheddar Crown and Glory, all in very good condition. Also available were a couple of meads from Hive Mind, and a keg range of Blek Beastie, Christmas Reaper, White Picket Fence, A Tribe Called Fresh, Lucky Numbers, Clear Head, Infinity, Jenkera and Rattler. Much as it grated I couldn’t bring myself to dislike the pub, and given its proximity to the Trenchard Street car park I’ll probably call in again despite myself.

An interesting flat iron shaped building ,the apex entrance leads to an open plan ale house section with a semi circular bar directly ahead, sporting 6 handpumps, but sadly with just one operational on my visit.Behind the bar are two seating wings with trad furniture but nothing of much interest.
The pub used to be known for it's heavy metal vibe ,but much of that has gone together with the previous selection of dark and strong ales. The barman said dark beers were available in cans but I opted for the single pale ale Fierce & Noble How Moo Can You Go,from a local microbrewer,NBSS 3.
It retains a noisy heavy metal sound track, but little else in the way of character or characters. One to pass by IMHO.

Such a niche place - can't be many Good Beer Guide Heavy Metal pubs but you can add to that that they only sell Dark, Strong Real Ales. Talk about a target audience.
Thrash metal, very loud. Sort of place you will either love or hate.
