Didn’t expect much here so I thought it’s a half pint pub but a half of Wainwright was almost as good as such stuff gets. Bit of a ‘spoons a like but smaller, in addition to the usual national favourites there’s three pulls of Marstons favourites. Quite a few screens, floored with carpet and tiles and some very odd customers. The name maybe an attempt to counter the town’s monkey hanging reputation. Weird place Hartlepool.

Noisy large room full of chavs. Had to enter at the rear. Surprise, surprise, no real ale!
