Old Boots left this review about Halfway House Inn

A stone built pub beside Birkenshaw roundabout on the A58, opened out to an open plan layout it retains a little charm in the form of stained glass and wooden panelling. The front door is slightly offset and leads to a small area at the back with the counter straight ahead, to the right is a larger seating space and next to that on the left a smaller area with a pool table. Two T-bars of standard UK kegs including both Guinness and Murpheys, six hand pulls with Yorkshire beers, but just Abbeydale Moonshine and Rudgate Chocolate Stout bizarrely for the hottest week of the year at time of my visit. A trio of Wensleydale beers had run off plus one other where I didn’t recognise the clip shape. It has the screens, machines and piped music expected these days, board floors and banquette seating and a bullshit corner like most pubs I visit. Camra like it as it’s in GBG 2026.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about Halfway House Inn

Near a busy roundabout, this pub features in the latest Good Beer Guide. There is a small car park to the right-hand side of the pub, but this was full, despite the pub being quiet. The interior is fairly open-plan with a main bar area in the middle and further seating off to each side.

Service from the young barmaid was efficient. Ossett White Rat is the regular cask ale. Guest beers were Ossett Voodoo, Copper Dragon Copper Cracker & Black Sheep Snowflake.

Pizzas and burgers seem to be the preferred food of choice here. Not a bad pub. My Copper Cracker wasn't too bad, but I would have preferred something a little darker.
