Alan Winfield left this review about The West End
The West End is a stone built pub that is opposite Batley's health centre.
Once inside there is a small pool room to the right, the main bar room is to the left, this room is square shaped with the serving bar on the right side, the was some very worn bench seating around the edge of the room and some small stools, there was a TV on the left wall which was showing decent old music videos, the floor looked a right old mess with cracked tiles and part concrete.
I had stood at the bar for an age when a local said the landlord had gone for a No 1,5 minutes later he decided to go and look for him,i commented it must be a very long No1,when the landlord finally appeared he looked in a right old state,he was definatly younger than me,i thought he looked worse than me after a day at the Nottingham beer festival and could have done with a visit the the health centre opposite.
No real ales on the bar,but a choice of three keg bitters,i had a drink of Worthington cream crap which was a pretty poor drink,John Smiths smooth crap and Tetley were also on the bar.
This is a very basic pub that attracts older male drinkers.
