Strongers . left this review about The Southdown
A short walk north from Worthing train station on the edge of Broadwater is the Southdown. Some modernisation has taken place in the last few years and I found the interior to be a little bland and characterless. There was some loud music playing and the plasma screen in the bar area was showing muted Football Focus. The bar area of the pub is U shaped and there seemed to be a function of some sort going on in the left hand side. The rest of the pub was empty apart from a couple of blokes who were playing on one of the two pool tables in the right hand side of the pub. Beyond the pool tables is a small paved beer garden that houses some picnic tables to compliment the tables outside the front of the pub.
The drinks selection stretches to limited draught, but some local ale was advertised outside so maybe there is a selection of bottles that I missed. I had a generic lager that was served flat by the polite barman.
I didn’t really warm to this pub and wouldn’t bother with the walk away from town again.
