Malden man left this review about The Nelson
Rather gaudy looking from the outside with food and drink offers emblazoned all over the exterior, things didn't improve too much once inside. The bar counter has a mock slate front, seating opposite was at four square plastic topped tables, marble effect pattern, the bench behind being covered in old pairs of denim jeans sewed together. There is a pool table and dartboard down one end, the other end was set for dining, no one was, just me and another couple in during my afternoon visit. The TV was on, showing "Homes under the Hammer". Thankfully muted although some music was playing.
Handpumps offered Hammerpot Red Hunter and Goldmark Hop Idol. Cocktails are served.
The menu is extensive and cheap, deals for multiple meals and courses. There is a man v food challenge comprising a 32oz steak with chips, onion rings and salad, £29.95 or free if you eat it in 40mins. This really isn't my sort of pub despite an ok beer.
