Booked Christmas Day meal with five of us and so impressed with service and food then immediately booked for New Years Eve karaoke/disco/buffet, again for five of us. New Years Eve was an astonishing feat of excellence in food quality, ambience, price - there was nothing more we could have wished for. Staff were incredibly helpful and don't know how they kept their smiles on after such a long days work. This is going to be a regular haunt of ours because it was fantastic.

The Sussex Barn was previously a John Barras branded pub before Spirit Pub Company converted it to their Flaming Grill label. The Spirit Pub Company was purchased by Greene King in the summer of 2015 so it wasn’t surprising to see their cask IPA and St Edmunds beers available alongside Sharp’s Doom Bar. A standard draught range was also available from the bar where cheap pub food can be ordered by those that have managed to acquire a table number. To the left of the bar is a large dining area that was full during my visit on Saturday evening. To the right of the bar is a dartboard and some high tables and chairs that were being used by some locals that had over spilled from the bar area. I do not recall any music playing, but a television was airing some dross from ITV. Outside the front of the pub are some picnic tables and around to the rear is a large car park.
If I lived locally I would take the kids here for a treat every now and again as I do at the Rodmill, which is my local Flaming Grill in Eastbourne. The cheap food in large portions is the draw, the ambience is not. I would not entertain the idea of returning here just for a beer.
