The Eastgate is a small L-shaped Fullers’ pub with a laminate floored front where tables sit against the right-hand wall, and a dartboard is found in the front left corner with an oche that runs across the front windows. An L-shaped serving counter runs up the left-hand wall where premium keg was available alongside three out of five hand pumps that were in use drawing ESB, Pride and St Austell’s Proper Job. In the rear is a carpeted area with a log burner in a fireplace on the right-hand wall. There are televisions throughout, but these were all off during my Saturday early afternoon visit when I found myself to be one of two customers. I didn’t see any football advertised, but there is plenty of live music held here. I enjoyed my stay, which was due to a delicious pint of Pride and very friendly service from, who I assumed was, the landlady.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Eastgate

Excellent, down-to-earth pub at the eastern end of the city centre. Partly opened-out inside to leave three separated areas: a wider seating / standing area at the front, another smaller one opposite the main part of the bar counter and a tapered area at the back which is more of a lounge. Light, semi-traditional furniture and decoration throughout. I found four of the five handpumps in use, dispensing London Pride, Hophead, Proper Job and 'Gales' HSB (£5.05).

BRUMMIE STEVE left this review about The Eastgate

A vibrant locals pub in The Hornet always very busy, the downside is lack of seating especially if they have some entertainment on but that's due to the pubs layout. When having a night out in Chichester I always pop in for a pint it's worth the ten minute walk from the main centre. The Eastgate is a Fuller's pub which is not my favourite so I cant comment on the beer but they offer a full selection of Fuller's ales on tap.
