The Fox is a very traditional 200 year old pub with two bars and a conservatory at the rear that leads to a patio garden full of picnic tables. The ‘Nautical Bar’ to the left houses a television that was off during my recent Saturday afternoon visit. The owners are obviously not sports fans because the Olympics were in progress. However, there was some low background music playing. The right hand bar is larger and carries that some traditional décor. Access from this bar can be gained to the smokers terrace and also the aforementioned beer garden. To the left of the pub is some seating and some children’s swings in an area that looks like the ruins of a previous building.
This pub opens at 11:30 (midday on Sundays) and closes at 23:00 (22:30 Sundays). Food is available for lunch and dinner during the week and from midday until 20:30/21:00 at the weekend. The mains are priced around the £10 mark and there is a children’s menu. To be honest I thought that the food was going to be more expensive. A standard keg selection alongside San Miguel was available from the bar. The cask options on offer were Arundel’s Sussex Gold, Adnam’s Ghost Ship, Fuller’s HSB, Hop Back’s Summer Lightning, Sharp’s Doom bar, Hook Norton’s Hooky and Purity’s Pure UBU alongside cider offerings of Old Rosie and Rosie’s Pig. I found the service to be very friendly and would enjoy visiting here again.

Excellent village pub with a warm welcome and good service. We visited last Friday evening and had the last table - the place is very popular indeed and with little wonder, our steak dinners were excellent and with two bottles of wine (sorry, wasn't on beer but did notice at least three pumps) came to around £70. Would undoubtedly visit again when in the area.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Fox Inn
Don't be put off by the rather austere exterior, this is a first class village pub which is well worth a visit. It is also quite dark inside due to the wood panelling, but the beer garden is very pleasant on a sunny day. There is also a separate patio to one side which a plaque notes was once part of the Old Meeting House (c1650-1050). Upmarket food menu. Unusual pub sign showing the Fox (which was actually a ship). Six beers on handpump, including Goddards, Bath Gem, Pride, Weltons Pride'n'Joy and Downton Quadhop (£3.45). (NB - Review dates from August 2011.)
