My first visit since it became the Hooded Ram. Well described by Soupy below. There were 2 beers from Sadler's on when I called - Peaky Blinder and Mellow Yellow. The Yellow was fine. I quite like this place and I will call again.

Update: Now the Hooded Ram, serving beers from the Isle of Man brewery of the same name. It is also the 'Gali Kitchen' - which does Indian street food, but i haven't eaten here. The interior is still the L-shape with one area the has a shuffleboard (an upmarket shove ha'penny), one that has bright tables and chairs, with garish cushions, and a third with booth seating. The service here has been mixed over the several visits, like the clientele. The TV has the news on and there is soft background music. The decor is white and the bar is done in that modern dyed crate wood look. The beer choice has dwindled since it first opened, with now just 3 on (I had an off beer on more than one occasion- though always changed), King Louis IPA, Mosiac and a decent enough Amber. The good points to this place are the unique beer and the shuffleboard, whereas the bad point is that for the rest of the day i am singing The Hooded Ram to Clannad's 1980s Robin of Sherwood (the Hooded Man) theme tune.

June 2013 - The Indi Bar: The former Rothwells, this place is a large curving corner bar. While the upper storeys of the building are in brick and stone, in a mock-Tudor look, the bar is in rusticated moulded stone, with large windows and a crest above the corner entrance, where the door spookily opens itself. The L-shaped interior is modern, with some booth area seating and a DJ area. There are no pictures other than cocktail bargain posters. The decor looks like some sort of spectograph - or televison interference - lines of various colours - with a tile floor. The several TVs had, mercifully, stalled, so the general music was playing although the fruit machine was even louder. The service was OK, and despite having a much younger feel to it, out of the handful of people in (staff excepting) i was the youngest! General keg drinks and more bottles on show than at a baby convention - just not sure how my half a coke can be £1.60, while half a Fosters was £1. Miserere.

A fairly good pub. It seems to be an outlet for Hooded Ram beers, hence the name. There are a total of 9 handpumps in 3 banks of 3. Five of these were Hooded Ram beers and the others guests. Its a bit up its own bottom but its worth a visit.
