Update: Still the same. 4 ales still on with a very good Wye Valley HPA last night. Always worth a visit.

June 2013: A detached pub and eatery, with patio area. The place looks like a former farmhouse and the core of the original building is likely centuries old, but it was a pub by the end of the Victorian era. The pub is in white brick mainly (some black beam), with a central elongated cottage with a couple of frontal and a larger rear extension, and a couple of dormer windows. The interior is an open roughly L-shaped room, but one half is given over to dining, while the other is the bar area. The general decor is white and some mint green, with a beamed ceiling. There are settles and chairs in the bar, along with books, old photos, a dart board and a tankard collection. The restaurant area has a fireplace feature and old photos, with dried flowers. I did eat here and the food was really good. There is no TV and there was no music. The service has been great on both my visits; the clientele is very mixed, clearly a centre for village life. Beer; usual tap stuff with Doombar, Joules Pale Ale, Banks's MILD (decent) and Hobson's Town Crier (decent) on handpull. A great country village pub, and one i swiftly returned to with Mrs Soup to try the food.

What a fab find! My wife and I went for a Saturday lunchtime drive into the sticks and decided to stop at Claverley for lunch, between Wolverhampton and Bridgnorth.
It has a village pub feel to it but I was still surprised how quiet it was. Staff were very friendly and, if this is any measure of standards, the toilets were very clean.
Tankards and dried flower things hung from the low wooden beams on the ceiling which meant I had to walk through the pub with great care. We sat in the corner of the small room. After inspecting the contents of the bookcase, my wife occupied a high backed leather chair next to the brick fireplace - I’m sure it would be an even better place on a cold winter’s day. The other room was larger and set out for dining with a large blackboard on the wall to choose from.
The lunchtime food was typically £6-8 - my Rogan wasn’t really up to the standard of Balti Towers (and I didn’t expect it to be) but it was OK. The Ploughman’s wasn’t bad either.
Guinness, San Miguel and Becks on tap. Black Sheep Best Bitter, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Holden’s Golden Glow and Banks’s MILD (yes, MILD) on handpull.
We could have quite happily stayed here for the afternoon enjoying some peace.
