Genuinely surprised I haven’t reviewed this one – I am sure I have been here before. Anyway, notes were sketchy at the end of a long day’s crawling. Interior is a standard old skool Spoons barn with a load of attractive leaded glass topped booths running up one side. I did note that my Titanic PP was drinking well (NBSS 3.5) and that the food order for our table was all over the place – clearly struggling to cope with the sheer volume of customers on a December Friday night. “More for the price than the ambience” sums it up nicely below based on my visit but I suspect I might be a bit more effusive should I end-up here at a quieter time in future.

The Moon Under Water has a central U-shaped serving counter that supports three banks of five hand pumps that were drawing the usual three plus Titanic’s Plum Porter, Burton Bridge’s Stairway to Heaven, Oakham’s Citra, Exmoor’s Gold and Vale Brewery’s Gravitas. The Porter was undrinkable and must have been for a long time before my visit. My pint was changed with no fuss, but the clip wasn’t turned. I know it’s only £1.99 a pint, but come on.
The usual Wetherspoon’s décor and furniture is present with high tables across the front of the pub and a sea of standard seating up the right between the counter to the left and booths that run up the right-hand wall. It was very busy with a 50/50 mix of drinkers and diners during my recent late Thursday afternoon visit. I’d revisit if passing, but more for the price than the ambience.

Large Wetherspoon's close to Wolverhampton's railway and bus stations. With my train delayed, I had time to stop here for a quick half late on Monday evening.
The pub was busy. But it is large enough to deal with the crowds. Service was quick and a table was available for me.
The usual Wetherspoon's ales were on - Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best & Sharp's Doom Bar. Guests were Backyard The Hoard, Oakham Inferno, Burton Bridge Sovereign Gold & Enville White. Ciders were Weston's Old Rosie & Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon. Be careful to check all sides of the horseshoe-shaped bar as there may be different beers on the other side to which you are standing. The two ciders were certainly in different fridges on opposite sides of the bar.
