An early Victorian detached pub in undressed brick, with outside area. The upper floor seems to be a solicitors. The pub is locally listed and was home to the fledgling Wolverhampton Wanderers. The building has been heavily altered, with blocked doorways and modern windows. The interior is a little tired, and is a U-shape all around the central serving bar, now the old rooms have been knocked through. There is a bar, in white, with a blue carpet and a wall of London buildings wallpaper (what's that all about!). The first side area is in brown with a nice iron fireplace, the second white and London paper. The back room was in red and white, with a pool table - a few poeple were eating here. A few old photos are dotted about as a reminder of its Victorian past. There is a few TVs showing sport. The service was OK and it was busy with a mix of locals - and i don't know if it was just me, but many insisted on shouting to each other rather than walking four steps to speak. Beer, no real ale, all keg, with a decent Ansells MILD. Happy enough to nip in for the MILD and maybe try a curry, but wouldn't go out my way unless i had ear plugs.
