This is a detached Georgian/Victorian freehouse and outbuildings and that likely has an older core, which has clearly been a pub since the later Victorian period. The pub is in white painted brick - its off-centered entrance is flanked by two bay-windows, with an hpper row of sash windows. The interior has a small room off to the left (bar) when you enter into what was the out-door passage complete with hatch. This room was closed and in darkness. The lounge is off to the right. This is a long straight room, that narrows in the middle. It is in white, with red patterned carpet and has a brick fireplace. The walls have lots of various pictures and posters, including old Guinness posters, photos and ephemera like clay pipes, brasses and cigarette cards etc - just fun to look at. There is no real pearimeter seating so general chairs are around the walls, which is a little unusual, but adds to the place. There was no TV, or music. The service was friendly and the place was busy, with a more mature clientele. Beer; usual tap stuff with Doombar, London Pride and a decent enough Brough's Bitter. Another really nice village pub, that is also a hub for the community. Definitely worth a visit.
