Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Oaken Arms
Substantial Vintage Inn out in the countryside but adjoining the busy A41. Partly opened out and substantially refurbished in a light semi-traditional style, but it still has a smidgen of residual interest as most of these places do. Doom Bar and Hobgoblin Original IPA (4.80) available from the five handpumps, with Twin Coast from Sharp's 'coming soon'.

This is an old country cottage that has been a pub since the 1850’s and is now owned by Vintage Inns, the medium sized open plan interior is entered via a nice patio/garden area at the front of the building. The L shaped bar counter is in the back left hand corner of the room, there are four fire places scattered around the room which seems excessive considering the size of the pub but they are all nice and help to add a bit of character. Opposite the bar and to the left of the entrance is a large double sided fire place, behind this is a small area with a cast iron fire place in the left hand wall of the building, roughly in the middle of the building and facing the bar is a large booth enclosed by three short walls which also has a small cast iron fire place, finally in the back right hand corner of the building is a nice large inglenook fire place with seating inside. There are many low beams and odd supporting walls, I believe some are authentic and some have been added later for effect. Further interest is provided by old photos of the local area, Wolverhampton and various old paintings.
Current ales are Everards Tiger Best Bitter, St Austell Tribute and Sharp’s Doom Bar. This pub seems to have a strange policy for its real ales compared to most pubs, the barman told me that they change all three ales around every four to six months depending on how popular they have been. I’ve drank here several times and the beer is always good, as it was on this visit.
This is a great country pub that is mostly food orientated but still retains a traditional feel and is also well suited for just a drink. The nice beer garden is spoilt a little as it is next to the busy Holyhead road but this is a minor point. As mentioned by the other reviewers the menu has a decent selection of interesting dishes, the Mrs and I have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. I would definitely recommend the place for special occasions.

This pub is a Vintage Inn. The pub looks like two cottages stuck back to back, with the exterior being in white with green. There is a beer patio. The interior is open plan, again with olive green and white wood and panelling, with the odd wall of a different colour and with some exposed beams and brick. It is all turned over to dining really. There are a multitude of pictures on the walls, from old Codsall, to prints of classic paintings and pictures of birds. The beer; well some continenatl lagers, usual tap tosh, with Everard's Sunchaser (pretty good) and Bombardier on handpull. The food was pretty decent. Service was fine and it was pretty busy. Yes, i would eat and drink here again
