Update: Popped in after a few years. Tidy place, with character. Three pulls on from the Marstons stable, and the Ringwood 49er was fine. Nice sit out in the beer garden.

A multi-building pub, mainly white rendered, with character and clearly old, as the wattle and daub in the interior testify. It has a beer garden.

The interior is quite traditional, despite being an irregular open-plan shape. The decor is white, with wood panel and the the beam look, with a nice fireplace and a tiled floor, but the strange kiddie dolls have gone with the change of ownership. There is a dart board and the backroom has a strange waterpump kind of feature. There are a few TVs that had Sky News on them and the music was charty, but at an ok level. The service was fine and there were a few locals in.

Beer; tap stuff with Banks's MILD and Bitter on handpull, the bitter was fine.

Again, another Wednesfield pub that has got the basic real ales in and improved since my last visit - another one i would happily pop into for one

A multi-building pub, mainly white rendered, that looks really nice as you head into the High St. It had a beer garden. The interior is quite traditional, with the beam look, despite being open plan (even though i think they want to make it more modern). It has a bar area, dining area in its own building and a lounge. It had Sky TV for sport and music (Mungo Jerry!). There is a nice fireplace with strange kiddie dolls around it and a tiled floor.

When i have visited, it always seems reasonably busy, with some 'loud' folk. This time, a nice looking barmaid (not the eye candy type) talked to her mate all through serving me without any real acknowledgement - a bit annoying

Beer; sadly for place with some character, you get the usual stuff, with Banks's MILD smooth, which was cheap, and ok. A real ale would sit nicely here, but until it does, it lacks something

Approaching the pub by walking over the canal bridge I first saw a lot of scaffolding surrounding the building and my first thoughts were is it still open ? ,is it being converted ? But all is still good , just some tidying up jobs being done both inside and out it would seem. Unless the insides get gutted next week . . . . Interestingly , beers on were [still] Banks's Bitter/Amber, Hobgoblin Gold and Old Empire.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Dog & Partridge

Multi-room Marston's pub in an obviously old building, with a variety of seating / dining / games areas around and beyond the bar. All refurbished in a semi-traditional, if rather anonymous, style. Four real ales available from the two banks of three handpumps: Banks's Mild (£1.99) and Amber, Hobgoblin Gold and Old Empire IPA.
