Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Anchor
Canal-side Vintage Inn with the usual anonymous semi-modern furniture and decor throughout the various seating / dining areas inside but the terrace overlooking the water is a fine spot on a sunny evening. Four of five handpumps in use when I stopped by for a meal, with Pedigree, Robinson's Trooper, Salopian Oracle and Hobson's Town Crier (pricey at £4.45) on offer, and a reversed Doom Bar clip also noted.

Recently reopened as The Anchor after a major refurbishment, now run by Vintage Inns. The pub sits next to the canal so is popular with boaters. There is a large car park, and there is a paved canal-side garden which even on its opening night has begun to look and smell like an ash tray. Inside, there are a maze of rooms and passages where tables have been crammed in for diners, although the bar area is reasonably spacious for drinkers. The food is the standard Vintage menu, but compared to many chains it's reasonable value for money and fairly good quality. Ales on draft were Ubu Purity and Jennings's Cumberland, both of which were in excellent condition, plus Pedigree, Robinson's Dizzy Blonde and Doombar, which we didn't sample. Being new, the staff were a bit unsure of themselves and there were mistakes, but I'm sure this will sort itself out in time, and I'd be happy to weigh in next time I'm cruising past.

Still as described below. Despite heavy bias towards food, some nice beers and generally a good feel to it. Very handy for canal, with good moorings close at hand (although it is the Staffs & Worcs, not the Shropshire Union!!).
