July 16. Party of 17 Pre-booked. Pre-ordered. This is a lovely quaint country pub typical of the ilk around this part of the country. The bar is the central hub and rooms lead off in all directions. It's currently a JW Lees establishment and the beer drinkers in our party were very happy with the choice available. With us being such a large party they had reserved a complete room for us across four tables and ensured we were well catered for by opening the windows when it got warm in there.
Food was excellent quality and it is no surprise that the place is very often busy. They offer traditional pub fair but with a couple of oddities (roasted lamb rump/beef stroganoff/lambs liver & onions). I opted for the small battered fish and chips and in all honesty it wasn't that small. Meanwhile the more expensive version was blooming massive so you can see that the meals are very good value and plentiful. Produce was fresh and tasty and the overall impression from everybody was top quality.
Service was courteous and prompt and the bevvy of ladies managed to be proficient & unobtrusive.
Would certainly recommend eating here and prices currently range from £9 through to £15. Average for the area I think. Deserts are mainly under a fiver.
Car park at the rear holds about 15 vehicles but we were told that the church car park opposite can also be used. Finally out back is a nice looking beer garden which I am sure would be busy on a hot summer's night (like we get them in Britain!)
