Komakino . left this review about Brew House
Situated opposite a large church, an iron arch upon entry still proclaims the old name of 'Old Town House', and with the overhanging trees in the front garden, gives a somewhat funereal feel if approaching after dark. A classic 'L' shape internally, the bar sits front right, with the 'L' leading off to left towards a stage area at the back. A pool table is located in front of the bar and there's some nice exposed brick on the left-hand side over what was once a fireplace, now hemmed in by four sofas and a canvas photo of Max Shreck as Nosferatu, which gives a Gothic air to proceedings. Rock music care of Motley Crüe gives an indication of the preferred style of music here, and the clientele was chiefly 'nu-metal' what with reversed baseball caps, beards, sleeveless tees and tattoos the norm. Despite the establishment's name, there was no real ale here, so a pint of Budweiser it was (the American one), which was reduced in price from £3.40 to £3.00 as the barman had 'no change'. The place felt a little unkempt, which is a shame, as the façade reminded me a little of the lauded Sandford Park Alehouse in Cheltenham, and a sprinkle of magic dust (and hard work) could make this place a winner...
