It was much smaller in the Cock ‘N’ Bull than I thought it would be from the outside, although I didn’t venture up the spiral staircase. I didn’t see any food menus during my recent early Friday evening visit, but I did note the dumb waiter in the corner. The bar counter made from distressed light green panels runs across the rear wall facing padded wooden booths that run along the front windows that can open up onto the passing street. Oddly, the television was showing a muted kids film while some background music played. The Irish guy behind the bar was very friendly, but only standard and premium keg was available, so it was half a Madri for £2.80. I didn’t see anything here that raises this place above the other high street pubs along this stretch.

A modernish food led place. On two floors judging by the spiral staircase on entering though I only went in the ground floor part. The bar has a couple or so handpulls with fizz-u-likes the main focus. I found it hard to like this place and so only had a quick half.

Decent refurbishment of the old Royal Exchange. Lots of rough timber and odd artwork. Set up mainly for serving food but there are 2 ales on - Purity UBU being one of them. I like the look of this place and I enjoyed my brief visit.
