Intrigued by how busy a 10am everyday opener in a back street would be. Admittedly, it was the slightly more reasonable 11am by the time I crossed the threshold.
Of course, as possibly the first new face to cross the threshold in days, I was a conversation stopper to the half a dozen fellas on the left hand side of the bar - and the solo drinker all on his own in the room to the right.
No cask on - which is fine, as it meant I didnt have to risk anything. A Guinness at £4.50.
Smart exterior with a rather plain interior. Sky Sports news on - a focus on darts and plenty of amusing signs to read, including sad memorials to dead drinkers.

Fairly plain inside, but the holly leaves motif on the façade is an unusual feature. Just peripheral bench seating with four tables and a few stools in the bar (where the popular dartboard can also be found), but there is another room of equal size of to the side (although this was in darkness when I stopped by). Only Doom Bar (£3.10) and Old Rosie cider from a pair of handpumps.

A free standing neat looking pub, with a green and white exterior. Inside, there was a bar and lounge, with TVs (Murray in the tennis), with white walls and beam look. Service was friendly, as were the mixed clientele. The place was not packed, but had a healthy number. It was clean oand i felt comfotable here.
The beer, after the usual taps, had Banks's MILD and bitter on handpull. The MILD was fine. There was also Ansell's MILD on keg, which was excellent.
I would definately revisit this place. It finished the day in third place, behind the Castle and Shovel, no disgrace at all.
