Strongers . left this review about Wharf Tavern
The Wharf Tavern has a tile floored bar with two-seater tables and accompanying chairs along the front wall that is faced by the serving counter that supports premium keg options alongside Carling, Inch’s cider and a T-bar with three flavours of Old Mout cider. There’re also four hand pumps, the Old Speckled Hen was off, so the available cask options were Abbot, Old Golden Hen and Belhaven 80 Shilling. What I suppose is the public bar area is found up the right-hand side of the bar where there’re high tables with benches and stools, a dartboard, and above a brown painted brick fireplace is a television that was airing muted BBC News while some background music played. Sky and TNT Sports are both advertised, but there was nothing worth watching during my recent midweek lunchtime visit. The larger split-level left-hand side of the pub is mainly used as a dining area, so all the tables have knives, forks and napkins as well as the Greene King food menu.
Out the back seating wraps around the outside of the pub and there are stairs down to a well-kept beer garden with picnic tables and a wood chipped children’s play area. There is also some covered garden furniture that is overlooked by a large television that was again was airing muted BBC News. The garden sits next to a spur of the passing canal, but the mooring area is now overgrown and unusable. There’s a large managed car park at the rear, so vehicle registration must be entered into the tablet at the counter. I found the service to be polite, and the garden was a nice spot on a sunny afternoon, so I’d stop off again when next passing.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Wharf Tavern
Unremarkable Greene King pub, located as the name would suggest beside the ? Canal passing through the centre of the village. Partly opened-out inside, but there are still various distinct seating and dining areas on each side of the bar (all with furniture and décor somewhere in between traditional and modern). Although three of the four handpumps were clipped for IPA, it turned out that only Abbot (£5.10) was available from the fourth.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about Wharf Tavern
Greene King pub with the definite feel of a chain pub, right down to the cameras in the car park and the machine on the bar to input your vehicle registration.
We arrived to find a few groups of people enjoying a meal and drinks on evenings out. Although there did seem to be a few people just there for a drink at the bar.
The pub is set on a couple of levels, with plenty of secluded areas to enjoy a meal. I hesitate to say "enjoy a drink", as my beer was far from enjoyable. Greene King IPA & Abbot are the regular beers. Guests were Greene King Ghangly Ghoul & St Austell Tribute. With Halloween just around the corner, the Ghangly Goul was my beer of choice, but was a real horror show! On the plus side, my son did enjoy the slice of cake he had spotted (for sale) on the bar and being a Greene King pub, I did at least get 10% off the Ghangly Goul.
