The White Swan’s entrance is on the left-hand side up the old coaching Inn’s carriage arch opposite the Henley Mile Brewery Tap that shares the same building to the right. Through the entrance, the hotel reception is towards the rear, and the wooden floored L-shaped bar with old exposed wooden pillars and ceiling beams is to the front where a central L-shaped serving counter supports standard and premium keg products alongside four hand pumps that were drawing Doom Bar and Landlord. Seating is found up the right-hand wall either side of a fireplace opposite the counter and along the windowed front wall. Behind the counter, up the left, is more seating and a television that was airing muted Sky Sports News while some background music played. The service was polite and this was by far the busiest pub I visited during a recent afternoon stop off in the town. I can only assume that the hotel was busy with guests who hadn’t yet managed to venture out of the building.

I still remember by 2018 visit :-) I was actually here today for the Henley Mile Tap Room. This is in the same building as the White Swan, occupying a room on the opposite side of the Court Yard. As far as I can tell, it is autonomous to the White Swan, although it obviously shares the same infrastructure. Could possibly do with a new listing on here.
They brew their own beers - all named after local characters/folklore, with the stories articulated on the beer mats. I went for a Run Charlie Run - a classic best bitter and I have to say I was very impressed. Exactly my type of beer.
I was the only punter in at first, although another couple did come in after 10 minutes or so.
A long room, with pictures of Henley history on the walls.

We got a good welcome from the young barman on this visit and I thought the main bar area had a lot of historical charm, with the low beamed ceilings, open fire and leaded windows. I was asked if I was dining today, to which I replied only if they had chilli con carne. A nice surprise to find it was their daily special at £12. I have to say it was one of the best chilli con carnes I've had for a long time. This was washed down with a decent pint of Hancocks HSB ale from Wales. The two other beers were TT Landlord and Doombore.
I didn't like the way the staff were told to ask if you'd like another drink as soon as you had finished your drink. A guy at the bar even said to the young barmaid are you trying to get us drunk.
