Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Old Talbot
An unfussy old pub, retaining some character in the three rooms around the central servery, despite a rather austere refurbishment at some stage. Pool room to the right of the entrance, something of a snug to the left and a larger bar at the back. The 'heritage toilets' are still at the rear too, but at least the route out is covered. No real ale so supped a M&B Mild (just £2.80).

A Georgian pub, which once had its own brewery - the Talbot Brewery - on Brewery St (1834) which then appears to have relocated to the back of the pub (by 1887). It is quite plain - in mainly cream painted brick, but with a red foundation layer, red lintels and sills (some sash windows have been blocked) and red entablature over the doors. The interior has three rooms. To the right on entry is a pool area and to the left, where i went, a little snug (with serving hatch). There is a larger room bar room at the back. The decor is white and wood throughout really, with blue bench seats. Red tile flooring is in the bar, red carpet in the snug (which also has a moulded cornice). A few pictures are on the walls. The bogs are out the back and still retain that 'heritage feel'. It was pretty busy on my visit, with a mixed clientele. The service was fine. Beer; no real ale, just the usual kegs, with a decent enough M&B MILD. A place that is worth popping in for the pub alone - nothing for the real ale fan, but ok for a swifty.

Basic but tidy 3 roomed local on main street in Smethwick, very close to Rolfe Street Station.
One room has a pool table and games machines, the others are bars, the back room being twice the size of that at the front.
Very basic decor, its an average locals pub, used for card palying and pool whilst drinking beer. It's tidy enough though.
No real ale, M&B mild on keg, which was very cold.
