This is a detached pub, with patio area. It was built in the mid-1960s along with the surrounding estate. The area was as former industrial landscape. Architecturally, the brick, stone and wood fuse together to create a pub which is frighteningly brutal - indeed, i heard a rumour it was used for the gulag scenes in Dr Zhivago. Anyhow, i did go in - with words of the laconic review below swirling in my mind. The pub has a couple of rooms at least, but i only saw the bar. To my amazement, i found a few locals, a couple of which had got their dogs with them. The walls are red and yellow, with lancet widows of coloured glass that gave a slightly ethereal quality. The TV had sport on and there was no music. There are a couple of dart boards and pool table. The walls had a mix of sporting pictures, mirrors and old local photos for interest. The service was very friendly and, as said, a few locals were in. Beer; usual tap stuff with Banks's MILD - however, i was struck dumb by the presence of three real ales; Doombar, Enville Ginger and Enville Ale - and i felt cheated that i could only have a swift half of the ale, which was decent. This place deserved a longer visit - far better than i expected.
