A fantastic looking detached corner pub and eatery with patio, beer garden and play area. The building is in undressed brick with a white rendered double gabled frontage, still sporting a Hanson's sign.
The interior has a single room that meanders around the central serving bar. The front part is the bar room and is in white and beams walls and ceiling, the back area is a narrow dining area, which ends in a slightly raised area and has access into an undressed brick conservatory area, where extra tables can be found. We ate here on a two for £8 menu and it was perfectly fine. There are traditional trappings; brass ephemera, jugs and Victorian prints and there was a nice brick fireplace in the front area, with a fake stove like fire. There was no TV that i saw and the music was general and at an ok level. The service was good and the clientele consisted of a few diners and a few locals in the front room.
Beer; tap stuff, with Banks's Bitter and a great Banks's MILD on electronic cask pump, with Jennings Cumberland Ale, Ringwood Boondoggle and a decent Paddy's Stout on handpull.
I really enjoyed it here, nice food and more than worth a pop in for the beer, especially considering the other pubs in Swindon. Try it!
