Something of an oddity this one; a non-chain food-led pub (albeit with a limited menu), unexpectedly operating in an area where more basic drinking-only establishments are to be found. Retains two separate rooms on either side of the central servery, both traditional in appearance and one with tables laid up for dining. Disappointingly, no real ale available from the two banks of three handpumps, although Tribute is normally available, so made do with a Tetley's. Oddly, very precious about "have you booked a table" (which I hadn't) despite being near-enough empty early on a Wednesday evening.

A nice little 1930s looking detached Banks's pub in undressed brick. The pub looks like a typical house, with a hipped roof, with a projecting front gable with a steep pitched roof, central bay window and red painted doors either side. There is a small patio at the front.
The interior is open plan, but has two clear areas, both served by the central white painted wood panel bar. To the left on entry and near pationed off by a wall is the restaurant area. This is in red and white wood panel walls, white ceiling and patterned carpet, along with bistro art on the walls. This area is populated by foody tables. I haven't eaten here so can't comment on that. The bar room side is in patterned flowery wallpaper and red walls, with some white painted wood panel. There is a blue patterned carpet and red seating. There is a TV (had the darts on) and a dart board. The music was mixed and at a decent level. The service was friendly and there were a couple in eating and a few locals.
Beer; tap stuff with a guest real-ale, the Hobgoblin i had was very good indeed.
An interesting building and a strange irregular internal arrangement, due to the part-projecting frontage. Worth popping in for one, as it has a decent real ale.
